The trend of Generation Z disengaging from the church is accelerating, but what should believers do about it? This extraordinarily practical guide is for parents, youth leaders, and Christian educators to ensure the next generation embraces and lives a biblical worldview.  This is the book for believers to learn how to share biblical truth with Generation Z. As more of this youngest generation disengages from the church, this extraordinarily practical guide will help Christian parents, youth leaders, and educators.

"One of the best Family books of all time" - BookAuthority

Whether you're a Christian parent, youth leader, or educator who works with Generation Z, this book was written for you. As powerful ideas in our increasingly secular culture shape more of this generation, trusted leaders must share what they know about Jesus in ways that will reach them. But how? Backed by the latest research and first hand experience, this powerful book shows how to share biblical truth with a generation that desperately needs to hear it in a way that draws them in instead of pushing them away.

Written by two youth influencers and experts on Generation Z, Sean McDowell, Ph.D., and J. Warner Wallace, So the Next Generation Will Know is an extraordinarily practical and relatable  guide for anyone concerned with ensuring the next generation understands and embraces a biblical worldview.

Great book for anyone in touch with youth! Read this from the parent aspect and this book helps bring a lot of concepts down to a realistic level. Gives a parent great ideas on how to start approaching these topics.Just get started This book is an easy read, discussing the need to reach Gen Z not only with the Gospel, but also to equip the next generation to defend their faith. The authors give great ideas for engaging and teaching youth. The most important chapter may very well be the Postscript chapter. Worthwhile read for those teaching youth and young adults.Excellent Book on the topic I've read many books on the topic of discipling kids in the Truth of Christianity. Big fan of Josh McDowell's "Evidence That Needs a Verdict" so I figured I'd give his son's book a look see. Sean McDowell has followed close and very well in the footsteps of his father. I first learned of this book from an interview Sean did on James Dobson's radio show. Excellent stuff for parents, but has little "pullout text" specifically for teachers and youth ministers. The Life Group I lead will probably pick this up as a study this summer.

Title: The Guardians Pdf A Novel

John Grisham delivers a classic legal thriller - with a twist.

In the small Florida town of Seabrook, a young lawyer named Keith Russo was shot dead at his desk as he worked late one night. The killer left no clues. There were no witnesses, no one with a motive. But the police soon came to suspect Quincy Miller, a young black man who was once a client of Russo's.

Quincy was tried, convicted, and sent to prison for life. For 22 years, he languished in prison, maintaining his innocence.

But no one was listening.

He had no lawyer, no advocate on the outside. In desperation, he writes a letter to Guardian Ministries, a small nonprofit run by Cullen Post, a lawyer who is also an Episcopal minister. Guardian accepts only a few innocence cases at a time.

Cullen Post travels the country fighting wrongful convictions and taking on clients forgotten by the system. With Quincy Miller, though, he gets far more than he bargained for. Powerful, ruthless people murdered Keith Russo, and they do not want Quincy Miller exonerated. They killed one lawyer 22 years ago, and they will kill another without a second thought.

Title: 50 States, 5,000 Ideas Pdf Where to Go, When to Go, What to See, What to Do
Author: Joe Yogerst
Published Date: 2017
Page: 288

During three decades as a editor, writer, and photographer, JOE YOGERST has lived and worked on four continents—Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. His writing has appeared in National Geographic Traveler, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Islands magazine, the New York Times (Paris), and numerous National Geographic books. During that time, he has won four Lowell Thomas Awards, including one for Long Road South, his National Geographic book about driving the Pan American Highway from Texas to Argentina.

This richly illustrated book from the travel experts at National Geographic showcases the best travel experiences in every state, from the obvious to the unexpected. Sites include national parks, beaches, hotels, Civil War battlefields, dude ranches, out-of-the-way museums, and more. You'll discover the world's longest yard sale in Tennessee, swamp tours in Louisiana, dinosaur trails in Colorado, America's oldest street in NYC, and the best spot to watch for sea otters on the central California coast. Each entry provides detailed travel information as well as fascinating facts about each state that will help fuel your wanderlust and ensure the best vacation possible. In addition to 50 states in the U.S., the book includes a section on the Canadian provinces and territories.

A great resource to have while visiting our wonderful country. I saw this book at the library and needed to have my own copy. So much great information. What I also like is that for each state, it gives you some movies/music/books relating to that state. We travel via camper to many of these states and while some of the information may be repeated from previous books, there is a lot of new stuff in here too. A great resource to have.Chock full of info A fun informative book chock full of information on all 50 states (and the Canadian provinces). There are lots of ideas of things to do -- and even book, music and movie ideas to enjoy before or during the trip.Don’t bother there’s no ideas in this book! Can’t believe national geographic put their name on this book. It is by far totally not worth a dollar you may find 10 ideas of things to do. It is nothing but a book naming 50 states. Somewhere they missed the title 5000 ideas. Not worth the paper it is printed on. It worked out for me Amazon took it back.

The Everything Store Free Pdf

ISBN: B00FJFJOLC
Title: The Everything Store Pdf Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon

Audie Award Finalist, Business/Educational, 2014

The definitive story of Amazon.com, one of the most successful companies in the world, and of its driven, brilliant founder, Jeff Bezos.

Amazon.com started off delivering books through the mail. But its visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, wasn't content with being a bookseller. He wanted Amazon to become the everything store, offering limitless selection and seductive convenience at disruptively low prices. To do so, he developed a corporate culture of relentless ambition and secrecy that's never been cracked. Until now.

Brad Stone enjoyed unprecedented access to current and former Amazon employees and Bezos family members, giving listeners the first in-depth, fly-on-the-wall account of life at Amazon. Compared to tech's other elite innovators - Jobs, Gates, Zuckerberg - Bezos is a private man. But he stands out for his restless pursuit of new markets, leading Amazon into risky new ventures like the Kindle and cloud computing, and transforming retail in the same way Henry Ford revolutionized manufacturing.

The Everything Store will be the revealing, definitive biography of the company that placed one of the first and largest bets on the Internet and forever changed the way we shop and read.

I liked it, but.... I’ve been fascinated by Amazon and Jeff Bezos since I first heard about them in 1994-1995, and followed the company closely ever since, via articles, videos, and so on. When I helped launched Circuitcity.com in 1999, Amazon was one of the sites that I used for inspiration on a daily basis.I enjoyed reading this book; I learned a lot about Amazon’s history and culture. I always find the “backstories” interesting. Of course, I think you have to take any single article or book with a grain of salt; we humans tend to be subjective, myopic, and one-sided, even if our intentions are good. And, I don’t think the author actually interviewed Mr. Bezos, so that seems like a significant miss to me. But all in all, I don’t think the book comes across as either for or against Amazon, and it is a very easy read. If you’re trying to learn about Amazon, don’t limit yourself to this book, or any other single source of information. I’d particularly recommend reading the book's reviews written by Mackenzie Bezos and Andy Jassy. One really interesting tidbit was the story about Jeff having an open seat in meetings, where the “customer” is seated. Some people may think it a bit silly, but I don’t. I can’t think of a better constant reminder. I’ve found that I actually seem to have a lot of the same quirks and philosophies as Mr. Bezos, which is kind of cool. Like, frugality is one of my mantras too. It’s hard to find fault with much of anything, when Amazon has been so successful.A revealing book--on Amazon and Bezos I was looking for a biography of Jeff Bezos and The Everything Store is about Amazon almost exclusively. The book reveals what a complex entity Amazon is and how tremendously impressive Jeff Bezos is, and that's useful but there may be a little too much detail, and I'd like something more on how Bezos' style has meshed with the presumably independent Washington Post. Also, I 've been wondering about the competition between Bezos and Musk in the area of space ships. Perhaps the book was written before much could be said about either of those two topics. It's interesting to know that Bezos, like Musk and Jobs, all very successful, were pretty rough on those who worked for them and don't seem to have suffered for it.I did like this book I wasn't really planning on reviewing this book, because I was mentioned in it several times and it didn't seem appropriate. But several other people who were also mentioned in the book have already posted reviews, and in fact, MacKenzie Bezos, in her well known 1-star review, suggested that other "characters" might "step out of books" and "speak for themselves".I was at Amazon for the first 5 years of its existence, so I also have firsthand experience of those times at the company, and I have been a fairly close observer since I left. By and large I found Mr. Stone's treatment of that which I know firsthand to be accurate -- at least as accurate as it is possible to be at this great a remove, and with no contemporaneous documentation of the early chaotic days or access to certain of the principals. Relying on people's memories of nearly twenty-year-old events is of necessity somewhat perilous. Of course there are a few minor errors here and there, but I don't have firsthand knowledge of important mistakes much less anything that appears to be intentionally misleading. But there are a few minor glitches. In my case, I can testify that I did not, in fact, have a bushy beard at age 17 when I worked at the Whole Earth Truck Store & Catalog in Menlo Park. It was a publisher and seller of books and other things, not a lending library. It was in a storefront and was no longer a mobile service operating out of a truck by the time I worked there (p. 32). But I do not think this is a reason to disregard the entire book; it's just some not terribly relevant detail the author got a bit wrong in a way that doesn't change the story materially. MacKenzie listed one error, which didn't seem especially awful or material to me, and then referred only vaguely to "way too many inaccuracies". Without a more explicit list of mistakes it is hard to know what to make of that. Breaking news: a new 372 page book has some errors!Since Mr. Stone did not have access to Jeff Bezos for this book, but had to rely on previous interviews and the accounts of others, it would be surprising if there weren't a few mistakes regarding his thought processes. As part of my agreement to be interviewed for this book, I was allowed to read a draft of the chapter which covered the time I was there, and I offered a number of corrections, some of which Mr. Stone was able to verify and incorporate. To the extent I am quoted, my quotes are, while not complete, fair and in context. I don't love or agree with everything that Mr. Stone wrote about me -- especially his broader conclusions regarding the circumstances of my departure from the company -- but I do think it was fair and reasonable. I am aware of at least one other interviewee who was also given a chance to check over the chapter in which his story was discussed. I obviously can't know this, but I suspect that if Mr. Stone had been granted access to Jeff Bezos, that he would have extended a similar courtesy. I have a pretty high degree of confidence that Mr. Stone made a significant effort, and did what was in his power, to make the book accurate. The irony is, of course, that by reviewing the book as MacKenzie Bezos did, she has brought an immense amount more attention to it -- there are dozens of articles referring to her review via Google News this morning -- and its sales rank has shot up considerably. The book is not a fawning hagiography, but it is also hardly a completely negative account either. It describes not only Amazon's ultra-hardball business practices, but the better aspects of their services and products as well. To the extent of my knowledge it is a pretty realistic account, though necessarily incomplete. Of course Mr. Stone has his own point of view, and of course he does what nearly all biographers do, which is to impute thoughts and emotions to the people he writes about. It would be mighty dull reading without that, but I think readers are generally smart enough to understand that when they read biographies, especially unauthorized biographies, the author has to recreate some kind of persona to make the subject appear life-like. That doesn't make it fiction. This was written as a business book for a popular audience anyway, not as an academic treatise, so expecting every "Bezos thought..." to be footnoted, or couched in hypothetical language, is not realistic.Especially in comparison to the sad collection of awful books that have been written on this subject, this one is much more detailed, more interesting, and a lot more deeply reported. Sure, there is plenty more that could be written about, and maybe someday somebody will. If and when that happens, I can only hope it is also "unauthorized" and not sanitized by a corporate PR department, and that some real investigative journalism is done, like Mr. Stone did here.

How Full Is Your Bucket? Pdf

ISBN: 1595620036
Title: How Full Is Your Bucket? Pdf
Author: Tom Rath
Published Date: 2004-08-10
Page: 127

In this brief but significant book, the authors, a grandfather-grandson team, explore how using positive psychology in everyday interactions can dramatically change our lives. Clifton (coauthor of Now, Discover Your Strengths) and Rath suggest that we all have a bucket within us that needs to be filled with positive experiences, such as recognition or praise. When we're negative toward others, we use a dipper to remove from their buckets and diminish their positive outlook. When we treat others in a positive manner, we fill not only their buckets but ours as well. The authors illustrate how this principle works in the areas of business and management, marriage and other personal relationships and in parenting through studies covering a 40-year span, many in association with the Gallup Poll. While acknowledging that most lives have their share of misfortune, the authors also make clear that how misfortune affects individuals depends largely on their level of positive energy and confidence. The authors also underscore that our human interactions provide most of the joys or disappointments we receive from life. The book comes with a unique access code to www.bucketbook.com, which offers a positive impact assessment and drop-shaped note cards that can be used to give praise and recognition to others. Organized around a simple metaphor of a dipper and a bucket, and grounded in 50 years of research, this book will show you how to greatly increase the positive moments in your work and your life -- while reducing the negative.

Filled with discoveries, powerful strategies, and engaging stories, How Full Is Your Bucket? is sure to inspire lasting changes and has all the makings of a timeless classic.

Quick, inspirational read Such a great reminder to focus on the positive in others and fill their “buckets” daily. The power of small, positive interactions will have a ripple effect in our families and organizations. I just read this short book while drinking my morning coffee. Great book for people who aren’t big readers.Good read. Be the love. Be kind. I'm not being exactly clear but it's included in the book.A Simple, Little Book with Simple Big Solution This book is so wonderful, I ordered one for a gift already and expect to order more as the year goes by. It was an easy read - only a little over a 100 pages of actual reading. The rest is diagrams and worksheets to give you solid ideas for implementing the tools it's selling you.The premise is simple (but not simplistic) yet thorough explanation of how focusing on the positives in our own personalities and those around us can change our world, and everyone's we come into contact with. Not too many hints here, because I can't say it anywhere near as well as the authors have. The free assessment test that comes with the hard copy is invaluable. He practices in Toronto, Canada, and London, England, helping athletes and clients struggling with obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome improve their health.

An integrated and personalized approach to health, nutrition, training, recovery, and mindset

There is a new revolution happening in sports as more and more athletes are basing their success on this game-changing combination: health, nutrition, training, recovery, and mindset. Unfortunately, the evidence-based techniques that the expert PhDs, academic institutions, and professional performance staffs follow can be in stark contrast to what many athletes actually practice. When combined with the noise of social media, old-school traditions, and bro-science, it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction.

Peak is a groundbreaking book exploring the fundamentals of high performance (not the fads), the importance of consistency (not extreme effort), and the value of patience (not rapid transformation). Dr. Marc Bubbs makes deep science easy to understand, and with information from leading experts who are influencing the top performers in sports on how to achieve world-class success, he lays out the record-breaking feats of athleticism and strategies that are rooted in this personalized approach.

Dr. Bubbs’s performance protocol is for the elite athlete, active individual, strength coach, nutritionist, or practitioner who wants to expand their potential by:

  • Connecting the importance of sleep, digestion, the athlete microbiome, and blood glucose control metrics
  • Creating personalized deep nutrition strategies for building muscle, burning fat, or “making weight” for competition
  • Rethinking nutrition specifically for team sports
  • Learning how elite endurance athletes fuel, including training techniques to boost performance
  • Applying the new science of recovery that enhances performance
  • Emphasizing the tremendous role of emotional intelligence and mindset in overcoming roadblocks and achieving athletic success (the next frontier in performance)
  • Analyzing the qualities of elite leaders and how to develop them authentically

Dr. Bubbs expertly brings together the worlds of health, nutrition, and exercise and synthesizes the salient science into actionable guidance. Regardless if you’re trying to improve your physique, propel your endurance, or improve your team’s record, looking at performance through this lens is absolutely critical for lasting success.

A "must-read" for trainers and for endurance athletes. Evidence-based; combines science with practical aspects of training! Covers basic science of exercise and training, as well as practical aspects. Discusses nutrition, sleep quantity and sleep patterns, nutritional supplement fact vs fiction, recovery, and debunks a lot of lore and legend that have been accepted as training facts for decades.Great info The chapters on Biome and Nutrition is golden. I agree it needs better edit as there are some typos, but great book.Worthwhile; could use better editing I purchased this book as an audiobook and found it so information-dense that I also purchased it in Kindle format--something I rarely do, particularly when there is no whispersync!Overall, the information is very useful. Even though I am not, by any stretch, an elite athlete, I found it fascinating to learn how different athletes in different sports must train. New physiological research findings--and the technologies (such as continual glucose monitoring) that scientists are using to reach those findings--were also very interesting. And there was plenty of information that I could put to use in my own life. For example, I now understand better why whole foods are better than processed foods (and more foods than I realized are "processed" or even "ultraprocessed").Still, there is room for improvement. Marc Bubbs is an ok writer, but I wish his writing had been edited more carefully. Bubbs recounts Zinedine Zidane's "incredulous head butt"--a great story, but "incredulous" is the wrong word. Another time, Bubbs tells us, "Until relatively recently, the awareness of the impact of physical contact on brain health was largely unknown." No, the awareness wasn't unknown, the IMPACT was unknown. Then, while discussing "how to look good naked," Bubbs asks "how many calories should you trim to reach your goals?" and then advises us to follow new research by Kevin Hall, PhD: "aiming for a caloric reduction of 55 kcal/ pound/ day for the general population “reimagines a dynamic relationship between dietary calories and weight loss and presents a more realistic view of the challenges experienced by patients with obesity.""OK, but how is this possible? Let's say I weigh 120 pounds. There's no way I could eat 55 * 120 = 6600 kcals / day in the first place, much less reduce my calories by that amount. Thinking that perhaps a decimal point was missing, or maybe 55 was typed instead of 5, I looked up the citation to JAMA (Bubbs does provide footnotes, which is great). It turns out that this rule isn't supposed to answer the question "how many calories should you trim?" and the researchers do not suggest "aiming for a caloric reduction of 55 kcal/pound/day." Instead, the rule mathematically predicts how many pounds someone will lose before hitting a plateau. Hall et al explain, "For example, a patient who initially cuts 500 kcal per day from their diet and sustains a constant effort to adhere to the intervention would be expected to lose only approximately 9 lbs in total (500 kcal/d divided by 55 kcal/d/lb) with no further weight losses after the plateau." The fact that people need further calorie reduction after hitting a plateau isn't really new, and the entire point isn't very well explained.Overall, the book is well conceived, highly informative, and interesting even to non-athletes. I lowered my rating one star because of editing issues.
